FE Celebrate Indonesian Independence Day and Inaugurate New Lecture Building

At the beginning of the odd semester of 2022/2023, the Faculty of Economics (FE) of UNY will use a lecture building that has been renovated in the last four months. Lectures this semester will be delivered in a hybrid method, requiring the facilities to be ready. The lecture building was previously old and complained by students and lecturers because of its unsatisfactory condition. Therefore, for 4 months this building underwent a renovation which was completed last August.

Vice Dean for General Affairs and Equipment Dr. Ali Muhson said that this building is expected to meet the needs of classrooms. "This project was carried out in 120 working days. FE still lacks classrooms, so hopefully, this renovation can fulfill it. In addition, today we also hold various competitions to commemorate Indonesian independence day," he explained.

Dean Dr. Siswanto explained that this building had been planned for repairs. "Renovation was my commitment in 2019. With this building, there will be more representative lecture rooms," he explained.

In his remarks, the Chair of the FE Senate, Prof. Suyanto, Ph.D. said that this building holds special memories for him. "This building is historic. At that time, the Rector who inaugurated this building sent me to study in America. So I am very impressed with this building now; it is magnificent and in good condition," he said.

The inauguration ceremony of this building was also enlivened by gymnastics and several competitions celebrating Indonesian independence. The lecturers and staff took part by wearing red and white clothes and accessories. (fdhl)
