IISMA Helps Prepare Students to Compete Globally

The International Affairs and Partnership Unit (UUIK) Division of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Yogyakarta State University (FEB UNY) on Thursday (18/01) held the IISMA (Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards) 2024 Socialization through the Zoom meeting, which was attended by 115 FEB UNY students. Students were very enthusiastic about participating in the socialization event, which presented speakers such as Secretary of the UNY International Office Prof. Anita Triastuti, M.A., Ph.D., Pradipta Aditya Putri, a student of the S1 Management Study Program class of 2020 who is a 2023 IISMA Awardee at KU Leuven Belgium, and Nuricha Fajariani, a student of the Management Study Program class of 2020 who is also a 2023 IISMA Awardee at Hanyang University Korea. The event was opened by the Vice Dean for Research, Collaboration, Information Systems, and Business Affairs (RKSIU) FEB UNY Ani Widayati, M.Pd., Ed.D., and moderated by the Head of UUIK FEB UNY Arum Darmawati, M.M.

This socialization aims to convey what IISMA is and the procedures for participating in its activities. "Our hope is that we will not only experience but have international capabilities and be able to prepare ourselves to have competitiveness not only in the Southeast Asian arena but worldwide," said Ani Widayati when giving opening remarks.

Meanwhile, Prof. Anita Triastuti said that IISMA is a scholarship program from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) to support Indonesian students in one-semester mobility programs at leading universities and trusted industries abroad.

Prof. Anita Triastuti continued that IISMA offers two schemes for students, namely Bachelor and Vocational, which open Indonesian students' horizons to international academic and cultural diversity. "Students undergo a one-semester program (4-6 months) at an overseas university to learn about foreign cultures and conduct practical activities to hone their skills," she explained.

Nuricha and Pradipta talked about their experiences during the IISMA selection process, why they chose Hanyang University and KU Leuven, Belgium, and various experiences while attending lectures as well as providing motivation and enthusiasm to the students. (isti-tian)
