Digital Marketing Training for BUMKal Nyawiji to Enhance Digital Marketing and Green Economy Practices

The Accounting Education Study Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Yogyakarta State University (FEB UNY), has established a collaboration with Badan Usaha Milik Kalurahan (BUMKal) Nyawiji in Wijirejo Village, Bantul. This partnership aims to provide digital marketing training and support the optimization of the green economy for BUMKal members as well as Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the area. The activity, framed under the Community Service Program (PkM), was launched on September 1, 2024, and will continue with an assistance program until the end of December 2024.
The training was attended by representatives of FEB UNY, the management of BUMKal Nyawiji, village officials, and local MSME actors who participated in the program. The resource person for the training was Lina Nur Hidayati, M.M., CDM., an expert in digital marketing. The PkM team leader, Endra Murti Sagoro, M.Sc., expressed his hopes that the program would bring a positive impact to the local economy. “This collaboration is a concrete effort to improve the digital marketing skills of MSME players and encourage them to adopt green economy principles. Through this training, we hope MSMEs can maximize online marketing potential so that local products from Wijirejo Village can gain wider recognition,” Endra stated.
The training emphasized two key aspects: digital marketing and the green economy. In the digital marketing component, participants were taught how to utilize digital platforms to promote products, manage business social media, and implement strategies to increase engagement and online sales conversions. Meanwhile, in the green economy component, participants learned about environmentally friendly business practices, such as the use of sustainable raw materials and proper waste management. Assistance from the FEB UNY team will run until December 2024, providing continuous guidance as participants apply the knowledge gained from the training.
Representatives of BUMKal Nyawiji welcomed this collaboration and expressed their gratitude to FEB UNY for accompanying BUMKal members and MSME actors in Wijirejo Village. “This is a very valuable opportunity for us to strengthen the capacity of entrepreneurs in our village. We hope this training and mentoring program will serve as valuable capital for local MSMEs to face the increasingly digital and sustainability-driven market challenges,” they remarked. Following the program, MSME players in Wijirejo Village are expected to integrate digital marketing with green economy principles in their business activities, creating a more modern, competitive, and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem.
This initiative is also closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), by strengthening the capacity of local MSMEs while promoting environmentally friendly business practices. Implicitly, it also supports SDG 5 (Gender Equality), as the program opens equal opportunities for women entrepreneurs to enhance their digital marketing skills and actively participate in advancing the green economy.
