FEB UNY and Nanyang Polytechnic Singapore Strengthen International Collaboration with an SDGs-Oriented Vision

Yogyakarta, October 9, 2025 – The Faculty of Economics and Business, Yogyakarta State University (FEB UNY), welcomed a delegation from the School of Business Management (SBM), Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) Singapore, as part of a strategic effort to expand global collaboration in education, innovation, and sustainable entrepreneurship. The visit featured a sharing session, faculty tour, and the signing of a cooperation agreement between FEB UNY and NYP, warmly attended by the faculty leaders, lecturers, and students of FEB UNY.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Denies Priantinah, M.Si., Ak., CA., Vice Dean for Research, Cooperation, Information Systems, and Business Affairs of FEB UNY, expressed her appreciation for the growing synergy between UNY and NYP. She emphasized that the partnership not only strengthens UNY’s vision of internationalization toward a World Class University but also reinforces the role of higher education in advancing global sustainability. “This strategic partnership reflects FEB UNY’s commitment to strengthening the role of higher education in fostering sustainable development. Through collaboration with Nanyang Polytechnic, we aim to create best practices in education, research, and entrepreneurship that deliver socio-economic impact,” she remarked.
Representing SBM NYP, Ahmad Ruzaini Bin Rashid praised FEB UNY’s innovative spirit and modern learning infrastructure. “We believe that this collaboration can generate future-oriented projects, particularly in digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and applied research relevant to global industry needs,” he said. Mr. Ruzaini also highlighted his interest in studying the resilience and adaptability of Indonesian MSMEs, which he considered a valuable learning model for integrating into NYP’s curriculum and research.
During the academic session, Dr. Agatha Saputri, M.Pd., presented insights on Indonesia’s creative economy and MSME potential using Augmented Reality (AR) technology to showcase interactive examples of Indonesian culinary and craft products. She emphasized that the synergy between cultural richness, entrepreneurial spirit, and digital technology adoption serves as the driving force behind the growth of Indonesia’s creative MSMEs.
The second presentation by Dr. Kiromim Baroroh, S.Pd., M.Pd., focused on Indonesia’s economic framework and the role of the creative economy as a key national development strategy. Through a documentary video of FEB UNY’s community service program in Krebet Village, Bantul, she illustrated how lecturers and students empower local coconut-shell artisans through basic accounting training, digital marketing, and product design innovation. This activity exemplifies the university’s tangible contribution to strengthening MSME resilience while embodying the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
The collaboration between FEB UNY and NYP contributes directly to SDG 4 (Quality Education) through pedagogical capacity-building and innovative curriculum development; SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through the promotion of digital entrepreneurship and creative industries; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering cross-border academic and research networks. With a shared spirit of sustainability, both institutions are committed to nurturing globally minded, ethical, and competitive young generations in support of the Education for Sustainable Development agenda toward Indonesia Emas 2045.
