FEB UNY Faculty Members Develop System to Help Mosque Financial Management

Lecturers from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) carried out a community service program (PkM) at the Gamping Grand Mosque Foundation, Ambarketawang, Sleman. The program was led by Dr. Dhyah Setyorini, M.Si., Ak., CA., with team members Prof. Sukirno, Ph.D., Diana Rahmawati, M.Si., Mahendra Adhi Nugroho, Ph.D., and Dian Juliani, M.Sc. In this initiative, the FEB UNY team partnered with the Gamping Grand Mosque Foundation to strengthen transparent, accountable, and efficient mosque financial management.

The background of this program lies in the importance of professional mosque financial management so that collected funds can be properly accounted for. Therefore, the PkM team of FEB UNY supported the Gamping Grand Mosque Foundation by developing a system called SIMAG Sakinah (Sistem Informasi Masjid Agung Gamping: Sistem Akuntansi Kas Informatif dan Amanah). This system is expected to automate the recording of cash inflows and outflows in a computerized manner, enabling administrators to monitor and record each transaction more effectively.

Beyond system development, the lecturers also provided assistance and training for the implementation of SIMAG Sakinah. Through these training sessions, mosque administrators were guided to effectively operate the application, thereby improving their capacity in managing mosque finances. The assistance was conducted intensively to ensure that the system could be utilized properly in line with the expected principles of accounting.

The impact of this program extends beyond enhancing the digital skills of mosque administrators. It is also expected to foster greater transparency and accountability in financial management. With the adoption of SIMAG Sakinah, the financial governance of the Gamping Grand Mosque Foundation has become more modern, while community trust in the management of mosque funds is also expected to increase.

This community service program also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education by enhancing the capacity of mosque administrators, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure through the development of a digital accounting system, and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions by ensuring transparent and accountable mosque financial management. Moreover, the initiative reflects the importance of partnerships between higher education institutions and communities in line with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. (rn/fdhl)
