The Faculty of Economics and Business, Yogyakarta State University (FEB UNY), welcomed a delegation from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia on 26 September 2025. Five lecturers and 29 students from UiTM Malaysia were received by the Vice Dean for Research, Collaboration, Information Systems, and Enterprises (RKSIU) of FEB UNY, along with department heads, study program coordinators, and the International and Partnership Affairs Unit. Representatives from the Accounting Education Student Association also joined the reception through a sharing session with the visiting students.
In her remarks, Vice Dean of RKSIU FEB UNY, Dr. Denies Priantinah, M.Si., Ak., CA., emphasized that this visit is a strategic step to broaden academic networks across nations. “Collaboration with UiTM Malaysia will open new opportunities, particularly in developing digital-based curricula, conducting international research collaborations, and advancing community service programs relevant to global challenges,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Dr. Enny Nurdin Sutan Maruhun, representing the Faculty of Accountancy, UiTM Perak Branch, highlighted the importance of inter-institutional cooperation in enhancing the quality of higher education. “This activity serves as a momentum for both universities to exchange experiences and strengthen the role of academia in sustainable development,” she said.
The visit’s agenda included academic discussions, plans for joint research, and exploration of student and faculty exchange programs. Both institutions also committed to pursuing joint publications in internationally indexed journals and designing community service projects with direct impact on local communities. Additionally, student representatives engaged in exchanges about organizational activities, campus life, curricula, and student program initiatives.
The visit of UiTM lecturers and students to FEB UNY stands as tangible evidence of both institutions’ commitment to building international cooperation focused on improving the quality of education and research. This partnership is expected to foster a more innovative, competitive, and globally relevant academic ecosystem.
Furthermore, this international collaboration contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Strengthening education and research aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education), while the development of digital-based curricula and international research initiatives supports SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). Student and faculty exchanges, along with joint publications, represent concrete actions toward SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), underscoring the importance of cross-country synergy in addressing global challenges sustainably.
